Who Can Apply For MD MS Admission In India?

All Indian students, NRIs, and international candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate after graduation can apply for MD MS admission. The students who have completed their graduate and one year internship can apply for MD MS. Moreover, passing NEET PG is equally compulsory. Students will not get admission if they have not scored qualifying marks in NEET-PG.

Eligibility Criteria Of MD/MS Course

Students who are keenly interested in studying Doctor of Medicine or Master of Surgery in India will can secure a seat only through NEET-PG. NEET-PG exam plays an important role MD MS course admission. The basic eligibility criteria of NEET-PG are written below.

  • The candidate who has done his bachelor or pursuing the last year of MBBS degree from NMC recognized medical university or college can write NEET-PG.
  • The candidates must hold a valid graduate degree (MBBS).
  • General category candidates must have secured at least 55% in MBBS. 45% is fixed for the SC/ST and OBC category candidates.
  • 1 year internship before 31st March of the academic year is mandatory.
  • Foreign candidates must have passed Foreign Medical Graduate Examination.
  • The candidates must have registered with the NMC or State Medical Council.

Eligibility Criteria For All India Quota 50% Seats

As per the NEET-PG, the candidates who want to apply MD/MS admission under All India Quota 50% seats needs to fulfill the follow criterion.

According to the latest NEET PG updates, the applicants from Jammu & Kashmir cannot apply for 50% AlQ seats. They can apply for the same, if the government of India has nominated the students under CPQ for pursing MBBS from the medical college of Jammu and Kashmir. Such candidates have to submit an affidavit signed by the officials.  

Eligibility Criteria For Foreign Nationals

The foreign national candidates can also apply for NEET-PG Examination. They can appear in the examination without MCI registration. MCI registration is not mandatory, but they can apply for temporary MCI registration.

Admission Process of MD/ MS in India

To participate in NEET-PG counselling, general category candidates needs to obtain 50 percentile, and reserved category candidates needs to score 40 percentile.

Medical Council Committee Central conducts NEE-PG Central Level Counselling on the behalf of Director General Health Secretary. The MCC conducts MD MS counselling for 50% All India Quota seats in the government colleges and 100% seats in central universities.
